Prom 1946 to 1940 the production of rectitiers at Zavod 659 mounted with the completion of the new building for fabrics. tion. From 1940 to 1952 it remained fairly constant. During these years approximately 120 to 150 units (each unit consist- ingot an arrangement of six single.anodopots) of rectifiers were produced. Slightly more than 50 per cent of the produc- tion was used for railroad electrification (5500 volt, 500 ampere); the remainder, generally for elefstrolytic plants , (electrolysis). After 1950 it appeared that the percentage share for electrolysis declined and that the production share for railroad electrification increased. A so-called assembly department (Montage Abteilung) existed .at Zavod 659; its personnel assisted and/or advised consignee plants on the inatallation of mercury vapor rectifiers. From time to time (whenever more difficult installation problems arose) members of the laboratory for mercury vapor rectifiers at the plant were also assigned to such jobs. The three electrolysis installations were installed by assembly engsneers Irom riavod 659. and later visited regularly by them, the installation at Murmansk started to operate in the winter of 1950/51; the installation at Zaporoshye with its new rectifiers?spmetime in 1949. (An electrolysis with an old type of rectifiers existed previously in Zaporozhye.) Finally during the years 1948 -to 1952 assembly engineers from Zavod 659 were continu- ously dispatched to the railroad electrification projects, mainly.to the Ural Mountain railway and the mountain railways in the Caucasus. 4.
