SUBJECT : Request for Payment of Language Training
1. It is requested that authority be granted Mr. David
25X1A9a _ to attend Russian and Turkish Language courses at the
expense of the Agency.
25X1A9a 2. Mr, WE is employed in FDS as an Intelligence
Officer and. it is felt that a, good. understanding of the
Russian. language will make him much more valuable to FDS
and. the Agency. Since the Turkish language is closely akin
to several of the languages spoken by various nationality
groups in the Soviet Union, it is believed that an under-
standing of it will contribute greatly to his work.
3. The courses, which includes 45 hours of Turkish
at the Berlitz School of languages and 100 hours of Russian
at the Borras School of Languages, will cost a. total of
$625.00.
