Eighteen officers and thirty-eight enlisted men on the Ground Forces T/0, 41p five officers and twelve enlisted men from A-2, a five officers and twelve ratings from the Navy, and probably ten officers from Allied armies. Any families coming into this area will have to be provided for by theofficers them- selves. It is not felt that any special concessions have to be made in the case of commissioned personnel who can be ordered here. When are they coming ? As they are procured. So far two officers are available for activation. How many not Americans ? Present estimates permit the absorption of eleven officers and twenty- eight enlisted men who are Nisei. Transportation to and from Fort Hunt? If the activity is part of CPM, the post will have to make provisions for such transportation. If the activity is separate, transportation can be procured through 1411 (Military District Washington). What needed in way of office space ? Living and sleeping quarters ? Space for visitors ? 14,000 sq. feet working space. One barrack for enlisted male personnel; One barrack for enlisted WAC personnel; Two standard officers barracks; A mess hall to serve as a combined mess; The only space for visitors is the office space required for visiting liaison personnel. This is included in the total estimate of working space. How will we get buildings at Fort Hunt ? Buildings can be acquired through normal request to the Chief of Engineers to house and approved activity. Present source -- dismantled buildings from AA installations. What, kind of buildings ? Wooden - single story - 20 X 100 feet for working space. Living quarters standard. 40111. How supplied ? Military District Washington is responsible for all supplies for approved activities in the District. Check.capacity of sewage plant. Present sewage system at Fort Hunt inadequate. New spptic tank system would have to be installed under any circumstances: Mess problem. The extent of the mess problem is the erection of the mess hall and kitchen personnel. Supplies and food are available through MDT. roads Phat/imxx and walks ? All working buildings and the mess hall should have access to a road. Cross walks suffice to connect other buildings. Garbage collection. Depending on whether activity is incorporated within post. This is no serious problem and can be worked out with VIENT. Fuel for winter. Supplied by NDff. Personnel for caretaking and guard. ? An overhead of twenty enlisted men would be required to service the combined MIRS activities comprising a total of 124 officers and men. This personnel will be required whether apart of the existing station or separate. How many telephones ? Teletype system ?
