LOCATION: BAN BAC IS LOCATED IN THE SOUTHERN LAOTIAN PANHANDLE, APPROXIMATELY ROUTE 92 IS A SEGMENT OF THE NORTH-SOUTH ROUTE EXTENDING INTO THE LAOTIAN PANHANDLE THAT IS USED BY THE PATHET LAO~PAVN FORCES. ~+. MISSION READOUT: REVEAL ALTERNATE ROUTE 92, PREVIOUSLY REPORTED AS BEING CLOSED (NPIC CABLES CITE 7072, DTG 3022442, APRIL 1966, AND CITE 7113, DTG 0402192, MAY 1966) TO AGAIN BE CLOSED AS A RESULT OF LANDSLIDES AND THE COLLAPSE OF THE ROAD EMBANKMENT AT i55oN 1oh45E (uTM xc888523). THERE IS NO APPARENT ATTEMPT BEING MADE TO REMOVE THE DEBRIS OR TO RESTORE THE COLLAPSED ROADBED, ROUTE 92 IS CLOSED BECAUSE OF RECENT AIR STRIKES THAT HAVE RESULTED IN LANDSLIDES AT 1551N 10646E (uTM xc9o1538), 0.6 NM NORTH OF BAN BAC. EIGHT NEWLY OBSERVED DESTROYED TRUCKS ARE NOTED IN A TRUCK PARK AT 1551N I0644E (UTM xc857533) I.6 NM NORTHWEST OF THE CLOSED SEGMENT OF ROUTE g2 ALTERNATE, SIX NEWLY OBSERVED DESTROYED TRUCKS ARE ALSO OBSERVID ON BOTH SIDES OF ROUTE g23, 0.3 NM SOUTHWEST OF THE UNSERVICEABLE FORD.
