AGAINST NORTH VIETNAM BY STRIKING ROUTE 1S IMMEDIATELY
NORTH OF THE LAOS/NORTH VIETNAM BORDER IN TOE MU GIA PASS
AREA, ATTEMPTING TO DISRUPT AND IMPEDE VEHICULAR MOVEMENT
ON THE NORTH VIETNAM APPROACH ROUTE TO TEL PASS. THIRTY
OF THE EXPENDED BOMBS WERE FUZED FUR A THIRTY-SIX HOUR
DELAY.
THE SECOND AIR STRIKE BY B-52 AIRCRAFT (BIG KITE)
TOOK PLACE ON 26 APRIL. NINETY OF THE EXPENDED BOMBS
HAD DELAYED FUZES -- HALF SET TO EXPLODE AFTER THIRTY-SIX
HOURS, AND THE REMAINDER AT THE END OF SIX DAYS.
4. BACKGROUND:
SUBSEQUENT TO THE FIRST B-52 STRIKE, MISSIONS
REVEALED MINOR ROUTE
AND TROJAN HORSE
DAMAGE IN THE MU GIA PASS AREA. THIS AREA KAS NOT OBSERVED
ON TROJAN NORSE MISSIONS
, AND WAS CLOUD COVERED ON TROJAN HORSE
