SIGNIFICANCE: THIS BRIEFING BOARD DEPICTS THE CONSTRUCTION OF AND LATER BOMB DAMAGE INFLICTED UPON A TRUCK PARK NEAR BAN DA LANG, LAOS. 2. REMARKS: ROUTE 9 IS AN IMPORTANT SEGMENT OF THE LAOTIAN ROAD NET THAT IS BEING USED BY NORTH VIETNAM TO TRANSSHIP PERSONNEL AND SUPPLIES TO SOUTH VIETNAM AND SOUTHERN LAOS. 3. LOCATION: THE TRUCK PARK IS LOCATED IMMEDIATELY NORTH OF ROUTE 9 AT BAN DA LANG, 6.2 NM EAST OF SEPONE AT UTM XD427217. 4. MISSION READOUT: Approved For Release 2007/11/13: CIA-RDP80T01471 R001600030007-6 REVEALS A NEWLY CONSTRUCTED ACCESS ROAD GENERALLY PARALLELING ROUTE 9 IN THE BAN DA LANG AREA. THE ROAD APPEARS TO BE LIGHTLY USED. AN UNOCCUPIED AW POSITION IS OBSERVED. PRE-STRIKE PHOTOGRAPHY OF REVEALS NUMEROUS NEWLY CONSTRUCTED PARKING SLOTS ALONG THE ACCESS ROAD; HOWEVER, NO VEHICLES ARE OBSERVED. TWO OCCUPIED CAMOUFLAGED AW POSI- TIONS ARE NOTED. AT LEAST FORTY CARGO TRUCKS (THIRTY-EIGHT SHOWN ON GRAPHIC) ARE OBSERVED TO BE SEVERELY DAMAGED OR DESTROYED WITHIN THE TRUCK PARK. CARGO AND SUPPLIES ARE SCATTERED OVER THE AREA. THE TWO PREVIOUSLY OCCUPIED CAMOUFLAGED AW POSITIONS OBSERVED SOUTH OF THE TRUCK PARK ON ROUTE 9 (BAN DA LANG HIGHWAY BRIDGE OVER STREAM, ARE NOW UNOCCUPIED.
