1. SIGNIFICANCE:
THIS BRIEFING BOARD SHOWS NEW MILITARY ACTIVITY ALONG THE
CAMBODIA/SOUTH VIETNAM BORDER. THIS AREA IS NEAR THE SCENE OF
RECENT HEAVY ENGAGEMENTS BETWEEN U.S. FORCES AND NORTH VIETNAMESE
REGULARS.
2. REMARKS:
A COMPARISON OF AVAILABLE PHOTOGRAPHY REVEALS THAT THE PRESENT
THE MILITARY ACTIVITY' DEPICTED ON THIS BRIEFING BOARD IS IN THE
VICINITY OF THE PREK DRANG (RIVER) IN CAMBODIA, WHICH IS KNOWN AS
THE IA DRANG (RIVER) IN SOUTH VIETNAM. THE AREA IS LOCATED
APPROXIMATELY FORTY NM SOUTHWEST OF PLEIKU.
MILITARY ACTIVITY IN THIS AREA DID NOT EXIST ON

NORTH AND SOUTH. SEVEN DEFENSE, POSITIONS ARE NOTED ALONG THE
NORTI-HRN EDGE OF THE AREA.
APPROXIMATELY FIFTEEN PERSONNEL ARE OBSERVED JUST NORTH OF THE
SUSPECT BIVOUAK AREA MOVING IN SINGLE FILE IN A GENERALLY NORTHERN
DIRECTION AT 1336W , 10731E .
HEAVY TRACK ACTIVITY CROSSES THE CAMBODIA/SOUTH VIETNAM BORDER
AT 1336W 10735E. IMMEDIATELY NORTH OF THIS AREA, ON THE CAMBODIAN
SIDE OF THE BORDER, FOUR DEFENSE POSITIONS. ARE OBSERVED TO BE IN A
G=RAL RECTANGULAR ORIENTATION.
A SAW-TOOTH PERSONNEL TRENCH WITH TWO OR THREE AW POSITIONS IS
LOCATED AT 1338N 10732E.
