foundation. The dirt roads also run through shallow hills and
are mostly maintained by townspeople and villagers. Whenever
the dirt roads become potholed or tutted in various areas they
are leveled with old-fashioned rakes and shovels. Occasionally
an old-fashioned steam roller is brought in to level the holes.
4. Because of this type of maintenance the dirt roads are able to
absorb heavy usage during heavy rains or during the spring thaw.
