Attachment 1. City of Kingisepp. This six-page report includes sketchy information
on the location and population of Kingisepp plus a sketch of the city with 32 points
listed thereon. The points indicated on the sketch and described in the legend includf
principal buildings, civilian and military training schools,and medical facilities.
(Attachment 2) (Magnitorgorsk City Plan? (This two-page report contains only very
sketchy information on(the city.- It mentions new construction in the residential
area, enlargement of the metallurgical plant, a new bridge across the Ural
probably the underwater dam and ferry route south of the main
bridge), a new railroad line to Ufa, and restricted areas near the airport, at 50X1-HUM
the northwest border of the city and in the metallurgical plant. None of these
observations are elaborated upon. There is also a sketch of the city identifying
23 points.

1. Kin,_< i se op (N 59-22, E 2":)'-39)9 located in the Kingise?)pskiy rayon,
Lenin?r.adskaya oblast, had, at the time of report, an estimated
population of 15,000. The city, which had been extensively dama_,?ed
during World War II, had been reconstructed and new two and three
story public buildings and one-story frame dwelling had been erected.

training schools, hospitals, and other facilities have been indicated

(1) Newly-discovered phosphate deposits, estimated to be rich enough
to be worked for 60 years; it was reported that a plant would
be built to ?process the phosphate and em~)loyees were being
recruited for the work. A six-kilometer-long unpaved roa(lt
which branched off the Lenin._.,rad-Tallin hi`hway, led to the
phosphate deposits.
(2) Gas pipe line extendin,, from Re vere (N 59-21, E 26-21) to
Lenin;;rad; the pipe line, consisting of two or three conduits,
about 50 centimeters in diameter, was laid about one and a hai.

(5) A two-story schoolhouse, with aceoz-nod at ions for about 400
students; this was a seven-year school.
(6) School of instruction for builders of military airfields.. The
scli.,,ol, a branch of the T it itory of Aviation, was located in what
had once been a military barracks. The n ore than 300 troops
attending the school were trained to operate power sf:h.ovels,
tractors, and other construction equipment. All the afore-

New recruits just beginning; their three years' military 50X1-HUM
service were assigned to this school;
they were trained to use precision optical devices.
The troops wore khaki uniforms with black chevrons and
artillery insignia (i.e., two crossed canons);sLwhqkxr~,they moved
to surmaer training caries they took their equipment with them
in trucks end closed trailers.

office and telephone exchange.
(14) Transportation Office No. 3. In this area was an office
building and a vehicle repair shop. The some 120 trucks used
on the Kingisepp-Slantsy highway construction project were
repaired here.

four rietars high; it was located at kilometer 110 on the
Leningrad hi,'';1' sway.

(16) School for sapper units. It occupied a lar. ;e area on both
sides of the Lenin,-;-ad '-_i ;'_iway. Some 600 troops, swDecializ:in.:;

the area which was also the site of a small villa:;e named
Kaskolovka. The troops wore 1 kaki uniforms with black 50X1-HUM

meters wide, constructed after. World War II. The Lenin ?r
