Subject
Iaubi transhipment station.
The railroad transhipment center at loubi is the most
important in Czechoslovakia. All cargo
is transhipped at Icubi.
Construction of this facility began about four years
ago and is still in progress.
location
The loubi station is on the east bank of the Elbe
and the installation commences in the south near the road
bridge linking Decin with Podmokly (today known as Deci4 II).
A kilometers long extends from this river
bridge to the river valley and runs to the resident-al area of
Iaubi. The pier is at right angles to the water level and rises
six meters above the water level. This height is necessary
since a pier has been under construction for several years (at a

point three kilometers called
Dolni Grunt) rises five meters above the water level.
Description
Several railroad tracks connected to the Decin- Vychod

cated on the pier. Four were built in 1955 at the CKD plant
in Prague - Vysocany ; ' they have a 25-ton maximum lift capacity.
Four others built at the same plant can lift 15 tons ; they also
are fairly new. The remaining five portal cranes are old, and
are much smaller th n the iM- mentioned eight; theft five a-z+c-k
have a five-ton lifting capability. 12 large warehouses and
railroad buildings are in the transhipment area. The warehouses
vary in size but two of them are 250 meters long (each) and they
are situated by the railroad frfght tracks. loading ramps and
loading platforms are on both sides of the railroad tracks.
The whole area is enclosed by a bar eaire fence, two-meters
high. The main entrance is at the southern most point of the
port area near the river bridge, while another entrance is located
at the northern part of the port area.
