1. The Yugoslays have.received, or are testing, a device manufactured in the
Soviet Union for the electro-optical intercept of aircraft, missiles, rockets,
etc. One of the devices was tested during September 1962 on. bill. near
Belgrade, in the Avila district.
2. The device consistiht a type of telesco, short and vide (diameter 20-30 cm;
length 70-90 cm) aid en electronic device connected to the telegmsw107-411611-
cables. A cathodd rayi'tWhe (monitor) is an integral part of /the instrument.

If ri6 aerialstody appears. in the yisual field of the telescope,
the mosaic of photOdiodes is uniformly illuminated or, if dark obsecure s P5-0X1-HUMG
do appear, they do not have clear-cut contours. If, on the'other hand, the,
viouel field shows rItars denoting the image of 14,serial body, the mosaic oetbe--
*n" photodiodes remain a:atonal/ illumlnated through "12.1" diodes, While on
the "1" diode appears a small spot. Under these latter conditions, the
'Amperstus gives an alarm which lasts only,q, the point of luminous discontinuance
of the mosaic coyest. Tbtmovement of the-pbint can be followed on the cathode
ray monitor with which OW apparatus is equipped. The solid angle viewed by
the telescope is notevori*; 'there is a significantly vide area of sky covered

in radio locating j it can i1so be used to track the flight of aircraft, whose
?irejectories appemr on the mcnitor tube. The device does not, however, suppl
f lig data or quantitative information on the course of intercepted aircraft._ g

the existence of a device of this type. With current techniques,, it is
not difficult to achieve a mosaic of photodicdes, individually very sammll
Alm, the annexed electronic circuit does not preseek exceptional,
difficulties, and can be to $ large extent transistorised.
