On 8 December 1954, it was reported that a train loaded with uranium ore
leaves Aue for Brest?Litovsk every 2 or 3 days. Each train consists of 45
boxcars and one caboose and is escorted by a Soviet officer and several
soldiers, The Soviet military post commander at Aues a colonels has
suggested to the GDR Ministry of Railroads that shuttle trains be henceforth
employed for the transportation of uranium ore to the USSR.'

Comment. The monthly quota for uranium ore delivered from the Saxony
uranium ore district has been fixed at approximately 109000 tons, The
employment of shuttle trains for the transportation of uranium or would
be uneconomical and conflict with efforts to utilize railroad freight
space available in the GDR to the maximum degree possible.
