Request for Situation Estimate of North Korea
Due to the fragmentary nature of intelligence reports
on the North Korean area, the Bureau of Far Eastern Affairs
recently requested the Division of Research for Far East,
OIR, to prepare an overall integrated analysis of the mili-
tary, political, and economic situation in North Korea.
Since such a study involves contributions from thg inte

In its request to DRF, FE stressed that the study
include: (1) consideration of the political and economi.e
stability of the area; and (2) evaluation of the military
potential in the broadest possible economic and social
context. FE also requested that the armed forces draw
upon overall military intelligence estimates from G-2,
Far Eastern Command. The deadline set by the requester
is March 27, 1950.
