Major Purviance apologized for
someone's having failed to invite you sooner
but apparently they had some confusion at
OSD due to the other briefings originally
scheduled for MOD of UK earlier this week.
They obviously thought they had already
invited you for this one too. Also, the
talks with Leber were originally going to
be informal between Schlesinger and him,
but OSD subsequently decided to do the
formal briefing.
I explained to Major Purviance
that you were scheduled to sit in on briefing
& luncheon here for Sec Treas Simon, but
that I would inform you of the OSD invitation.
