MEMORANDUM FOR: Mr. Wisner, DD/P
At the NSC meeting today the question was raised by
Harold Stassen as to whether he should stop FOA aid and with-
draw his FOA personnel fro-n Guatemala. There was also some
discussion with regard to the Military Mission in Guatemala
and the Secretary of State explained the reasons for retain-
ing the Mission for. the time being. He said he thought that the
same applied for the Economic Mission, but suggested that Mr.
Stassen and the DCI confer on that subject and possibly bring
in a recommendation with regard to the best method of handling
the FOA Mission. This was generally agreed to.
Please let me have your recommendations.
