The Division of the Federal Register is now preparing the 1949 edition of the U. S. Government Organization Manual* This edition of the Manual will be the first to be published under Part 3 of the Regulations of the Administrative Committee of the Federal Register approve) by the President (13 F.R. 5935). The edition i*ill be substantially similar in scope and format to those published during recent years. It should be borne in mind, however, that the ranual statement concerning your agency will be based on the statements of organization which you have submitted to the Federal Register pursuant to section 3(a)(1) of the Administrative Procedure Act (5 U.S.C. 1002(a)(1)). It follows that your statements submitted under that statutory requirement should be brought up to date at this time. Your agency can assist this Division by, (1) filing promptly any documents required in order to comply strictly with section 3(a)(1) of the Administrative Procedure Act; (2) preparing and submitting an organization chart suitable for reproduction in the Manual; (3) promptly returning the Manual manuscript which will be forwarded to you for review at an early date. The 1949 edition of the Manual will present the organization of the Government as of June 30, 1949.
