Dulles, Central Intelligence Agency 2430 E Street, North West Washington, D. C. Dear Mr. Dulles: Director We are enclosing a list of those individuals who will be included in Allan Nevins' "Living History of the Critical Years: 1935-1960". Because your incisive leadership of the Central Intelligence Agency has strengthened the West in its struggle for freedom, you have been named as. one of the key individuals who have helped shape that history. The presentation will be made at The Research Institute's Twenty- Fifth Anniversary Dinner in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria., Wednesday evening, April 27, 1960, to which you are invited as an honored guest. On that occasion we will commemorate the past 25 exciting years of our country's, history and honor those like you who helped to shape America's destiny during this, past quarter century. It is appropriate for the Institute to emphasize this living history -- rather than its own growth --because the heart of our work during these years has been to analyse for the business community the great crises, conflicts, growth, challenges and agony of our country. More than 3000 of the nation's leading businessmen, labor leaders, educators., press and communication. executives will be with us in the Ball- room; and a national television and radio audience will. be tuned in to the event. CBS Television has already indicated its interest in covering this occasion. with a special live TV broadcast from the banquet hall. A similar strong interest has been expressed to us by Time-LIFE. The program of the evening will be a presentation of the honored guests on the unusually dramatic dais. All of them have one thing in common: their decisions, their actions, their lives, their particular role in a specific event, conflict, period or crisis of these 25 years helped DOCUMENT NO.
