second paragraph of your letter. The person named was put
up as a type rather th,:.n necessarily as an individual. How-
ever, we made it perfectly clear that it was our understanding
that if such a person took it, Le would become a civiliEln nd
give up thought of any further service except, of course,
that he should presumably be protected in his pension
rights.
