I have just learned that William C. Doherty, a member of the
Delegation, is the same Doherty wrn, as president of the National
Association of Letter Carriers, has had a long, bitter and running
battle with Arthur Summerfield and the Post Office Department. He
is violently partisan and is the same man who publicly walked off
the platform when the president addressedthe A,F.L. You will
remember that Doherty is on the Delegation at Meany's insistence,
and in his place, based on your invitation to Meany which he could
not accept.
