THE CHICAGO COUNCIL ON FOREIGN RELATIONS
A non-partisan, non-profit organization founded in 1922 to provide
public understanding of the United States' role in world affairs.
Mr. Allen W. Dulles
Director
Central Intelligence Agency
Washington, D.C.
116 SOUTH MICHIGAN AVENUE
CHICAGO 3 RAndolph 6-3860
November 21, 1960
On behalf of the officers and members of the board of
directors, many of whom are undoubtedly known to you personally,
it is my privilege to extend to you a most cordial invitation
to address the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations.
The Council bears the distinction of being the only
organization of its kind in the Chicago area devoted exclu-
sively to promoting understanding of the problems confronting
our nation, as well as the policies formulated to meet them
in the critical area of foreign relations.
The Council's history of community service dates back
some forty years. Its forum has been honored in the past by
the presence of such guest speakers as Henry Cabot Lodge, Adlai
Stevenson, John Foster Dulles, Chester Bowles, Eleanor Roosevelt,
Vincent Auriol, Walter Lippman, George Kennan, Paul-Henri Spaak
and others.
We would deem it a distinct privilege to include you in
such distinguished company, so as to present your ideas to a
forum well deserving the inspiration and enlightenment a message
from a recognized authority such as yourself could provide.
A date to meet your convenience can undoubtedly be arranged.
