1. PRtOBU M: To obtain approval of the employment
of Dr. :Raymond J. Sontag as an intermittent consultant to
0,TE.
FACTS BEARING INIT THE P' OBLE24 s
a. After two and a half years as a meer?nber of
the Board of National Estimates and later as Deputy
&_ssi Stan t Director, O/ TE, and Vice Chairman of the
Boards Dr. Sontag is resigning effective 19 June 1953
to return to his acadeic work,
b. This Office wishes to employ Dr, Sontag as
an intermittent consultant at the rate of 15O.40 per
day*
co We feel that Dr. Sontag es competence and ex..
peerience are invaluable to the Agency, although we will
now be able to call upon him only occasionally. Speci-
fically,, in connection with the Princeton Panel of
Consultants, of which Dr. Sontag has been the chairman,
we would like to have him present at least once during
the forthcoming year.
d. It is expected that during the forthcoming
fiscal. year we will be able to obtain Dr, Sontag is ser-
vices for a mum of six days.
