I appreciate your letter of December nd previouz
infoormation about your friend, and his STAT
group. You may be amused to know that I am sending the
medical report you enclosed, over to the White House to note
particularly the paragraph on birth control, as the PresidezIF
has, on several occasions, expressed a great interest in the
problem of population growth, particularly in countries like
China, India, etc. I appreciate your bringing all this infor:a-
Lion to my attention.
Also, and for your confidential information only.
Stoddard Stevens of S & C., who does some work for the Old
Dominion Foundation (Paul Mellon) told me they were consider-
ing a grant toward your work on the OSS history. I told Stoddard
that this had our unqu lfied backing and at his suggestion. If have
just confirmed this to him in writing and have sent hint a copy or
my letter to you of 7 August 1958. I hope they will take favo r-
able action and I have told Stoddard if he wants any more in# rn a?
tion, I would be pleased to furnish it.
