FOREIGN DOCUPAENTS. DIVISION Approved For Releas 2 " 111 :!GT1h DP80B01676R003800180064-4 ?coNEIDEt~T",~. Office Memorandum ? UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT TO sst. to the DCI DATE: 16 January 1958 FROM : Chief, WE/3 SUBJECT: Appeal for funds to the DCI from Exil et Liberte 1. Subject organization has an impressive list of names on its letterhead, but it is of little influence. The DCI was informed in a memorandum from Chief, 10, dated 16 April 1957 concerning the same subject, that the organization was receiving $100 per month from the Free Europe Committee. A recent communication from Paris indicates that the Free Europe Committee will terminate this subsidy sometime in January 1958, since it does not consider the organization even worth this nominal sum. 2. In view of the above it is recommended that DCI not acknowledge the letter from Exil etg Liberte . Since the communication is a form letter, sent to many individuals, there is no reason for an answer. The same recommendation was made to DCI in the 16 April 1957 memorandum cited above.
