We have on our staff an engineer named Sighard F.
Hoerner. He was born in Germany, was brought over to this country
under "Operation Paperclip," and is now an American citizen.

He has written two books,(1) "Aerodynamic Drag," pub-
lished privately in 1951, and (2) "Fluid-Dynamic Drag," published
privately in 1958 (Library of Congress Catalog Card Number 57-13009).
Some time ago he received indications that the Japanese
Air Force wished to translate the first book into Japanese. I called
Captain Turner, of the District Naval Intelligence Office, Third Naval
District, who told me that he saw no objection to the translation.
Dr. Hoerner has now received a request indirectly from
General Nagamuri, Chief, Research and Development Division (presumably
of the Japanese Air Force) for permission to translate "Fluid-Dynamic
Drag" into Japanese.,
The Four-Continent Book Corporation, "Headquarters for
Everything in Literature from the Soviet Union," 822 Broadway, N.Y.C.,
purchased several copies of Dr. Hoerner's first book, and it is anti-
cipated that they will order copies of his second book.
There is a further possibility that the Russians may
ask permission to translate the book into Russian, although it would
surprise me if they bothered.
