New York 16, New York
Dear Mr. Minton:
Your kind letter of September 15, came to my office during
a brief visit abroad, which accounts for the delay in answering. I
appreciate your thought about an autobiography. I have had a number
of inquiries from various sources on this subject, but at the moment,
as I am not in a position to do any outside writing. I have really put
aside all thoughts of an autobiography to a later date. Nonetheless,
I am flattered that you have expressed an interest.
Harold Nicolson and I were more or less opposite numbers
at the nd I recall the reference in his book
"Peacemaking to which you refer. I am also, of course, familiar
with the Harkness articles in the Saturday Evening Post.
Faithfully yours,
