Mr. Dulles:
a. Referred to his message tv respecting 25X1
possible request by U. S. newsmen to visit Red China, and asked Mr.
Helms to show this cable to the appropriate people in the Department 25X1

d. Briefly discussed his Quarterly Report to the NSC on 21
April regarding CIA activities. It was suggested that in the
future this report be made semi-annually. The Director said he
would think this over and take it up with the President, Mr. Dulles
stated that during this Briefing he had mentioned brain-washing and
also promised to "get out" something on this subject. Mr. Roosevelt
noted that a report was now in preparation which should reach the
Director early next week and could be used for this purpose, based
particularly on information we have obtained from certain individuals
recently released by theC'hiComs.

Mr. Helms:
Mr. Amory:
a. Recommended that the DCI visit the Indications Center
before his proposed trip to Colorado Springs on 12 May. The Director
indicated he would do this.
b. Noted that up to 1938 Mao Tse Tung had claimed that Formosa
should be independent. Mr. Roosevelt undertook to determine whether
this information could be used at the Bandung Conference.
