Kirkpatrick, Helms, Bissell, Sheldon, Roosevelt, Mr. Dulles: Asked Mr. Roosevelt to supervise the disseminations made by CIA outside the Agency on the current situation in Southern Viet Nam. 25X1 25X1 a. Recommended we attempt to confirm the successes as reported by Diem and company. It was noted that General OtDaniel and the US Service Attaches in Saigon are on the hook to make such a report. 25X1 b. Noted that one of our employees had requested permis- sion to marry who is not a US citizen, having been in this country only since 1953. Gen. Cabell said Col. Edwards had some concern about this case since the young lady in question had escaped from Poland and we had not yet been able to determine the full circumstances surrounding the facts as to how she made her way into Italy before coming to the United States. This, Mr. Amory said, was based on the fact that recently a number of these publications merely indicated there was nothing to report. The Director agreed but stated that he wanted to first clear this with the IAC. b. Noted a State cable from London respecting the chartered Indian aircraft which crashed while transporting ChiCom delegates to the Bandung Conference, and said in comparing this message with previous information on this subject it was the first time we could pinpoint a time lag by the ChiComs in reporting that this incident was due to sabotage. The Director, after being assured CIA was keeping State informed on all aspects of this case, asked Mr. Roosevelt to bring the above to the attention 25X1 of the appropriate officials in that Department. Mr. Kirkpatrick: Noted that of Senator office was an 25X1 applicant for employment with CIA.
