PRESENT: Mr. Dulles, General Cabell, Messrs. Wisner Amory,
Colonel White Messrs. Kirkpatrick, heldon,
Mr. Amory:
Raised the question as to whether the Director, in his
capacity as Chairman of the IAC, should, for the record, direct
a letter to the Watch Committee alerting it to the possibility
of ChiCom intervention in Indonesia. The Director said he did
not wish to be put in the position of writing letters in each
instance involving a potential critical area. After some dis-
cussion, it was agreed that this matter could best be handled
by a statement from the CIA representative on the Watch
Committee.
Reported that the Bureau of the Budget had approved an
allotment of $75,000.00 to the Coast and Geodetic Survey for
the purpose of drawing up plans for a new building. Colonel
White said this money had been obtained based on the fact that
the Coast and Geodetic Survey was now located in sixteen
separate buildings and had a number of maps which would be irre-
placeable if lost through fire, theft, etc. The Director said
this being the case, he would like to reopen discussions of a
new building for CIA aid stated he would talk this over with
Colonel White at a later date.
