Wisner, Amory, Colonel White, Messrs. Kirkpatrick, Helms, Sheldon and 25X1 25X1 a. Noted a cable I 25X1 concerning F- l, and asked that the contents of this message be made available to the Secretary of State as soon as possible. Mr. Helms undertook to do this. b. Asked how messages from 0 were being handled with the Department of State. Mr. Wisner said they were being passed to State through Alexis Johnson only. The Director approved. ' 1r 25X1 25X1 e. Asked that consideration be given to sending a daily intelligence cable to similar to messages of this type now being sent to Mr. Sheldon undertook to follow through on this and to furnish the Director with copies of the cables now being sent to f. Asked DD/P to consider organizing a certain activity in East Germany. 25X1 h. Stated he wished talk to Mr. Helms at some fu the breakdown of our joint peration with and noted he felt we might have been too legalistic in our dealings on this project. Mr. Amory: a. Briefly reported on Operation I and stated it had been proposed that the Director and Under Secretary of State Smith appear on television as a panel, with Sherman Adams as moderator. Reported that George Morgan had called him requesting our nomination for the Senior Staff of OCB. The Director said that while this was of interest to both the covert and overt sides of the Agency, it primarily concerned DD/P and asked Mr. Wisner for his recommendation of a nominee. Reported that Mr. Kirkpatrick: a. Stated that Congressman Ostertag and his Assistant, Mr. Wilson, were planning a trip to Europe and raised the question of a briefing for them. The Director said if the Congressman was in Washington we should offer to do this. In the event a briefing is given, Mr. Helms will notify the Senior Representatives of the Stations to be visited. b. Stated that Congressman Walter Judd and a group were planning to visit the Far East in the fall.
