VR 1023) respecting the Japanese Foreign Minister's request for a
briefing on Soviet atomic capabilities, and expressed the view that such
a briefing might be worthwhile. After some discussion the Director
asked Mr. Sheldon: (1) to discuss this matter with OSI, touching base
with Gordon Arneson in State; (2) to furnish him recommendations in
order that he might raise this subject with General Smith at the next
OCB Meeting.
c. Referred to a cable from the Senior Representative
(IN 20310) concerning and asked Mr. Helms to report
on the action taken in this case at tomorrow's Deputies' Meeting.
