PRESENT: General Smith, Messrs. 4volf, ~iisner, :Becker,
a. Read a cable from Secretary Acheson to
concerning Article b being dropped from the German contractual
agreements and briefly discussed his conversation with Secretary
Acheson yesterday on this matter. In this connection, T~ir.
Wisner noted that he had talked to however, he
did not bring him in to see the Director since professed
complete ignorance on the Oleak to the press in regard to
the above-mentioned article. Mr. Wisner went on to say that i.f
we wished to "have at it" with concerning this leak
he believed could do a creditable fob. The
Airector said there was a possibility that Secretary Acheson

a. Noted that word had been received of the defection of a
Soviet sergeant and a Polish officis.l, the latter defecting to
Radio I~,ree Europe.
b. Referred to the exchange of correspondence between Head-
quarters and concerning the return of 0 and 2 5X1
noted that had finally resigned rather than return. How-
ever, there was a possibility that he might turn up as an actual

down and asked the Director if he would give it a "push" at the
next IAC Meeting. The Director stated that the only problem he
was aware of in this regard was Berlin coordination and Ins.
