Director's Meeting
Friday, ~i January 1;52
Pr2r~SEt~fT: General Smith, Messrs. Dulles, Wolf, Wisner, Hedden, Becker.
1. Mr. %)ulles raised the question of having Q substituted 2 5X1
as Liaison with in the place of the lady who is presentl;;r so acting.
After some discussion, it was felt questionable whether Oshould take ar 2 5X1
official position with the Government and Mr. Dulles drafted an appropriate
revision of the cable respecting this matter which I checked over with hiii.
2. Mr. Dulles raised the question of whether Vishinsky's pro;~osa
that the Security Council study the Korean negotiations was a :natter for
consideration by the PSB. The DCI indicated that this suggestion should tie
passed on to the PSB and also approved Mr. inTisner's suggestion that it be
brought to the attention of the POCK. It might be possible to use this
suggestion as a means of driving a wedge between the Russians and the Chinese.
3. Mr. Dulles discussed briefly the situation in Southeast Asia
and indicated his feeling which was shared by Mr. Becker that existing policy
is inadequate as respects the threat to Burma.
!~. Mr. Wolf reported that a man who had been in the uncleared
training pool was missing and his mother is now in touch with some Cong-ressc_an.
He merely wished the DCI to be advised.
5. In connection with the foregoing item, there was a brief discussion
of whether people in the unclassified pool were given enough work and whether
such work was supervised. It tiJas indicated that this matter was in the control
of the Director for Training. The DCI instructed Mr. Hedden to look into this
situation. 25X1
