The DCI commented briefly respecting items in the Log;x?elating to the Korean situation. 2. The DCI also inquired as to the exact source within Germany- of the nickel wire reported on in the Log this morning. Mr. Wisner undertook to ascertain this information. 25X1 25X6 Li.. Mr. Dulles indicated that Bill Donovan believes that CIA suparessed his LOOK article and was somewhat irritated thereby. The DCI indicated that he was not concerned. 6. Mr. Wisner noted that a rather disagreeable letter relating to CIA had been received at State Department from Ambassador Griffis, according to Mr. Joyce, and the DCI commented that CIA had done all that it need do in this situation. 11. Mr. Dulles reported that had complained about an article by Constantine Brown in the Star. It was recognized that there wqs nothing that we could do about such matters and was so informed. 12. Mr. Dulles raised the question of the time it takes for papers to circulate within CIA and the DCI requested Mr. Becker to look into this question. 13. lr. /isner raised the subject of morale of personnel and indicated that Messrs. I and Johnston have specific proposals about which they desire to see the DCI. After some discussion, it was agreed that the DCI would visit 0PC at 4:30 pm on 10 January in order to meet the senior officials of the Office and to give them a 15 minute talk on future objectives. There was also a request that OSO be given a further opportunity to brief the DCI, but no final decision was reached on this matter. 25X1 25X1 14. Mr. Wisner indicated that Admiral Radford would be here from 16 to 20 January 1952 and it was agreed that in view of this timing, Messr?s. Johnston and hould defer leaving on their trip, so as to be sere to brief the Admiral. In this connection, the DCI indicated that the Adairal's jurisdiction should be clarified, since he personally is not certain as to whether his authority stopped at the seacoast or extended to other areas. 15. In connection with the foregoing, the DCI inquired as to what had happened with respect to the suggestion he had made to Secretary Lovett resc:cting activities and it was indicated that this matter was still wider consideration by the JCS having been sent to then by Under Secretary of 0,:-feise Foster. 16. Edwards. The DCI commented that it might be preferable to keep in this office. 25X1 25X1 19. Mr. Wisner reported an attack by Drew Pearson on a Rumanian .inure, but indicated that CIA was not really involved. 25X1 21. Mr. Wisner also reported that the McCarran Committee had subpoenaed a man who had been brought in by CIA. The principle reason for the issuance of this subpoena was not known but it was doubted that CIA was involved. 22. Mr. Hedden indicated that he wished to make a full report when Mr. Wolf was present, but he did wish to state that he had looked into Col. baird's unclassified pool and found that it was in excellent order. The trouble existed in the unclassified pool administrated by Gen. Davison. He planned to make a fuller report at some later date. 23. Mr. Becker reported to the DCI that the Brownell Committee had aieard representatives of AFSA and State on Saturday last and next Friday wished to 'year from CIA representatives.
