Director's Meeting
Monday, 16 July 1951
The DCI dictated a cable in reply to General Ridgway's cable.
The whole trouble probably arises from JCS papers sent to Ridgway which
we have not seen. DCI states we will continue to operate as at pre-
sent. Mr. Jackson feels that it is not fidgway's fault but that of the
JCS. The cable will therefore be sent to Ridgway, "More in sorrow tiia.n
in anger". The DCI instructed Mr. to add anything to the cable
which he considered necessary.
The DCI has a meeting with Admiral Stevens at three o'clock
today. He will try to get General Bolling to attend and ask them
both what is really going on in relation to the above paragraph.
Mr. Jackson asked whether the DCI considered that the comments
in the Daily Bulletin were too much on the estimating side. The P CI
stated that someone in ONE should monitor OCI production. (
believes this should be ) It may be necessary to include
some kind of disclaimer in the Ful e sn to the effect that comments
are on a spot or current basis and do not purport to be an estimate.
Mr. 0 reported that orders had been out for a week to
get the two Americans away from II and that a plan.would be sent
in if necessary. The 0 situation is not good.

agreed that a SO man should be on the spot upon return. and 25X1

F__1 Mr. again brought up the Department of Interior leak
on Mr. suggests an oral conversation between DCI and
Secretary of Interior. The DCI may bring it up in the NSC but beyieve:

that either Mr. Jackson or Mr. should talk with the Secretary of
Interior. Mr. I suggested a he write a note for the DCI's
signature to be hand carried by Mr. to the Secretary. The DC'L
agreed.
Mr. 0 reported that we had received a letter from
Mr. Fischer on the Free.issian Fund, Inc. The Director does not want
to see Fischer but does want to see George Kennon as soon as he returns.
Mr. Wolf reported that Mr. Trubee Davison had reported for
