Director's Meeting

The Director asked whether an approach should be made to
to enlist his assistance for the agency. Mr. Dulles
sai that he could do this.
The Director asked that the comments by Col. Daniel on our
estimates be sent to Vq him.
Mr. Dulles reported that the NCS had reversed Gen. Bolling's
decision on I He is to give the Director a memorandum on this
matter.
Mr. Jackson said there were certain matters on countermeasures
against guerrillas coming up at the NSC meeting today on which the
Director should be briefed.
Mr. Dulles said that he would discuss the NSC 26 papers with
Mr. Matthews of State to get his concurrence.
Mr. Dulles said Gen. McClure had suggested to 0/PC that the
MacArthur hearings would be a useful place to plant false information
to confuse the Russians. The Director stated that under no conditions
would this be considered.

Mr. Dulles said that he had received joint recommendations
from 0/SO and 0/PC for a Senior Representative in 0 to be under 25X1

The Director instructed that exploratory investigations be made to
determine its availability.
There was extensive discussion of the reply to Senator Russell
at the conclusion of which it was agreed that he should be told that
CIA had furnished reports to the Department of Defense but that in order
to protect its sources it could not furnish them to Congress.
Mr. Jackson raised the question of providing pictures for a
New York Times article. It was decided that the timing was poor to
provide any pictures to the Press.
