Deputy Director's Staff Meeting
1. It was reported that the NSC directive for the covert offices has
been drafted and is now being screened by Mr. He will attempt to
have a meeting with today.
2. Mr. Jackson said that he did not wish to see clipoings on CIA and
that he thought that it was an appropriate function for the Historical Branch
of the agency to handle.
3. It was reported that requests for NSC documents had been received
from OPC, and that OPC had forwarded to the Director certain intelligence
information received from
I.. It was reported that G-2 had unilaterally released the fact that
U.S. intelligence possessed the Soviet Economic Plan for 1941 and used it os
a basis for analysis of Soviet economy. Mr. Jackson questioned whether it
was CIA's responsibility to protect the security of other agencies.
5. Mr. Jackson said that he would go over the Marshall letter today;
that he wanted Mr. McConnel and Mr. 0 to see it; and that he world ask
the Director to set up a meeting with General Bradley this week.
6. There was discussion of priorities and procurement of personnel for
the operating offices, which should be a matter of concern to the Deputy
Director for Ore rations. It was decided that the answer was to get
assistants for Mr. and such matters could be handled by them.
