1. Bannerman tells me that there is a routine involved in notify- /
ing industrial security officers of the clearances of Government officials /
who visit industrial plants. He will take care of workin out with the ~/
appropriate people in0 arrangements for notifying of 25X1
the clearances of the people you take with you on 26 November.
2. You asked whether Manhart's letter about Agency participation
in CINCSTRIKE is "the beginning of arun-around or all nice and Kosher. "
Critchfield says this is not arun-around, that there are no problems.
He is highly optimistic of the outcome of our collaboration with the new V
command. We are sending a team to visit Mac Dill to discuss security
and communications next week and everything is moving along smoothly.
3. Governor Harriman has responded to Mr. McCone's recent
letter about the countries assigned to the Special Group (CI). Harriman
agrees that the list of countries should be reviewed and that NSAM 124, /
the basic charter of the Group, may need revision. He asks that V
action on these matters be held up until he returns from his present
trip to Latin America.
4. John Warner advises that Congressman Morrison is preparing
an .amendment to move DCI to Level II and you to Level III. He will 21
introduce this on the Floor.
