Preliminary evaluation of a flight over Northern 25X1 Laos adjacent to Burma and southern China showed improved roads from northern Laos to the China border and some barracks and l training areas in southern China not reviously noted. Otherwise, V there was nothing significant. A flight covered NVN military 25X1 and logistic facilities. Nothing significant noted. 5. Joe Carroll in a memo to Chairman, USIB, says the office of the Chairman JCS is concerned over Italian political developments particularly over the possibility that extremists on the right and left may eliminate the center and thus have broad impacts on US interests. DIA has therefore asked for an NIE on Italy. In response to a recent letter to Special Group (CI) members from Maxwell Taylor, State (INR) has asked for NIE's on "a comprehensive assessment related to the internal defense situation" in the Dominican Republic and Honduras.
