2. Bannerman has noted an article in the January '64 edition
of Argosy which covers a mysterious disappearance of Amelia
Earhart in Saipan. Author paid a visit to Saipan in 1960 and '61 and

3. Dick Helms has passed along a memo to him from Jim
Critchfield which describes "excessive cable reporting" from our
stations i during the political
restlessness. Jim points out that he has not elected to have the
stations cut down in this reporting because their frequent cables
are valuable in producing immediate estimates. Jim has sent a
letter to station chiefs in the Q instructing them to begin 25X1
a cutback in cabling and by the time the letter is received in the 25X1
field, this situation should be pretty well straightened out.
5. O/DCI advises that will be out of
Washington from 22 - 30 Decem er. We have an address where
he can be reached.
