1. As you know, John Bross and his office have been charged
with staffing out a response for the Director in matters related to
NSAM 300 and 301 dealing with the future of intelligence installations
in unstable foreign countries. State Department has provided a list
of such countries to Bross and the Director has asked that the CCPC
undertake a revi ow of the subject. This will provide for inputs for
all agencies in the Community and for future USIB approval of what-
ever response eventually materializes.
2. Bannerman advises that a new book is on the market
entitled "The Mission". It is a short but detailed account of Lt.
Cdr. LBJ's mission as FDR's personal rep in the Pacific in 1942.
In the course of this mission, LBJ wound up in an aerial battle
which got him the Silver Star
5. The DCI, on 8 June, sent a condolence telegram to

6. The DCI on 10 June sent a letter to Senator Pastore,
Chairman of the Joint Committee, stating that despite recent press
