Approved For Release 2003/04/22 : CIA-RDP80B01676RQJ300060024-> 10 February 1965 Major General V. P. Mock Secretary of the General Staff mice of the Chief of Staff Department of the Army Washington. D. C. 20310 Dear Phil: Many thanks for your letter of 5 February, and I think it is a terrific idea. You may recall the informal arrangements you had made for me many months ago so that t could read the weekly Chief of Staff's summaries. I went over one day and read a number of them but have never got back again. It is just that the exigencies of my current assignment make it extremely difficult. I regret that I will not be able to make the meeting on 20 February but will look forward to reading the script at a later date. Many thanks again for thinking of me. Faithfully yours. /s/ Marshall S. As a partial solution to these requests, we are going to present a series of briefings as significant actions or issues develop. These briefings will provide information on projects, studies or actions underway in the Army, but will not be parochial in nature nor be aimed at establishing a "party line." They will normally be of about an hour's duration, with some 30 minutes allotted for questions, and will be as objective and professional as it is possible to make them. In order that this information can be made available to the maximum number of Army officers who are fully occupied in their current duty assignments, the briefings will be scheduled on Saturday mornings, with attendance on a strictly voluntary basis. In this connection, I should like to invite you to attend our initial briefing session which will be presented at 0900 hours on 20 February in Room 5A-1070, the Pentagon, and will consist of the following: Army's Role in Stability Operations Army's Readiness Program STEP NIKE X Reserve Component Realignment Panel Discussion please inform my project officer, Major McEnery, at extension 59914 Chief of Staff or Vice Chief of Staff DCSOPS DCSOPS ACSFOR CRD CORC To permit us to make full use of the spaces available, would you whether you plan to attend or not., , Approved For Release 200TH 4/22111 C 1 3O 76ROO1300060024-8 Approved For Reler. a 20U3704122kCCF&F P8 l676R0OMOO060024-8 Should you not be able to attend the 20 February or later presenta- tions, you are welcome to read the scripts which will be maintained in the Office of the Chief of Staff, Room 3D-636.
