Honorable Allen Dulles, Director
Central Intelligence Agency
Washington 25, D.C.
Confirming my conversation with you and General Cabell,
I am glad the Central Intelligence Agency does not believe
it essential to continue the classification of the metals,
minerals and machine tool stockpile; and I would appreciate
your so informing Director Ellis of the Office of Civil
and Defense Mobilization.
I might add that all other agencies Mr. Ellis told us
are directly connected with the stockpile are at least as
definite as are you that it is not essential to continue
this classification.
In that connection I have attached the statements made to
us by the other Departments in question.
I am glad to know of your position because it is my con-
viction that continuation of this policy of stockpile
classification is against the security of the United States.
Stuart' S ngton, Chairman
Nat;lonaj Stockpile and Naval Petroleum
Reserv Subcommittee.
