It will be appreciated if your agency can furnish this
Office any information available concerning the ownership and
affiliations of a corporation known as Pan Holding, Inc., of
Panama, R. P.
This inquiry is made in connection with the captioned
case, in which I.G. Chemie (otherwise known as Interhandel,
otherwise known as Internationale Industrie- and Handelsbeteiligungen
A.G., Basel, and otherwise knovm as Internationale Gesellschaft fur
Chemische Unternehmungen A.G.) of Basel, Switzerland, and its
allegedly non-enemy stockholders are suing the Attorney General
for the return of all or part of the stock in General Aniline &
Film Corporation vested by the Alien Property Custodian as enemy
property under the Trading with the Enemy Act. There have inter-
vened, in the suit, some 2,000 allegedly non-enemy stockholders
of the corporation, claiming to own some 50,000 shares of stock.
The largest stockholder among these intervenors is Pan
Holding, Inc., which claims to own 10,000 shares in I.G. Chemie,
and we are therefore anxious to have as much information as
possible on the ownership and affiliations of this corporation.
We have reason to believe that Pan Holding, Inc, may be a dummy
or front for interests closely associated with the management of
I.G. Chemie. Its connections with the Chemie management may
possibly be through or with any of the followings
