MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD
1. At the request of the Director, relayed through Colonel
White, talked with Senator Symington's personal
secretary, Mrs. Virginia Laird. She was advised that the Director
had wished to offer Senator Symington a briefing concerning Mrs.
land her employment with the Agency. It was indicated that
Colonel White would do this briefing, if desired, at any time suitable
to the Senator. Mrs. Laird stated she would bring this to the
Senator's attention.
2. Mrs. Laird advised later and John S. Warner
confirmed it again on 26 October that the Senator gave no indication
that he was at all interested in being briefed on. the case or was in
any way interested in the case. I assured Mrs. Laird that we
merely wanted to be helpful and were not pushing the matter.
