Your kind letter of 23 September asking
me to continue to serve in CIA for a year
beyond the time I become eligible to retire
was most gratefully received. Let me hastily
reply that I acceed to your request with the
greatest pleasure and enthusiasm.
I am.al.so appreciative of your desire to
reserve the right to ask another extension if
this should seem the right thing.
I need not say that the Agency has become
a way of life for me and that my years here
have been the most satisfying of my life.
