Dear Joe: ;L 4 Since July 1961 the Department of Defense has furnished four senior intelligence officers for dvjy with the Coordination Staff of the Director of Central Intelligence. Three of these officers are detailed from the Defense Intelligence Agency and one from the National Security Agency. The Coordination Staff under General0 has been assist- 25X1 ing the DCI in his communttye ide responsibilities for coordination of the United dates foreign intelligence activities. Such assistance to Mr. McCo o is now the responsibility of Mr. John Bross. Deputy to the DO for National Intelligence Programs .valuation. In recent months, at my request, General and hia 25X1 Staff have been studying the subject of support to the Va by the intelligence Community in national emergency and wartime situations. This study is now scheduled to be completed and submitted to me by l March 1964.
