SUBJECT: Appreciation for NPIC Support in Compilation of DIAM 55-3,
Photographic Interpretation Key, "Insurgency and Counter-
insurgency in Laos" (U)
1Director,
National Photographic Interpretation Center (C)
1. 1 would like to express my appreciation for the support given by
t;e Nationu, Photographic Interpretation Center in the production of
DIAM 55-3. As you know, this publication was requested by COMUSMACV
and emphasized the immediate need for documentation and dissemination
01 _)hoto intelligence data on Laos to aid the interpreter in making
comprehensive readout of reconnaissance material on that area. The
fact that we were able to meet this immediate need and compile a
ographic interpretation key in the relatively short period six
s is due in large part to the wholehearted and unqualified support
by :`IC.
would especially like to single out several NPIC elements and
dividuals who materially contributed their time and talents. The
tiC photo lab produced a large number of contact prints very expedi-
tiously, et maintained a high degree of quality. Also,
were most helpful
will materially add to the timeliness and
lability of NPIC efforts in the exploitation of reconnaissance
;aage:ry acquired of Southeast Asia, and that the,Center will benefit
,y availability of the Key for the training of new photographic
_.!-,C -.::?reters in the area of insurgency.
I hope that our mutual efforts in this and other areas will continue
co enhance the significanee..and usefulness of aerial reconnaissance.
in he support they provided.
It is my belief that the experience gained by Messrs
