491 Approved For Release 2002/08/21 : CIA-RD P80B0l676R000jp9A9 8 3 6 MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director of Central Intelligence THROUGH : Deputy Director for Suppo SUBJECT : The Agency's Security Posture 12 APR 1966 1. This memorandum is for your information only. 2. Attached is a Memorandum for the Record prepared by AD/DCI/NIPS, of the briefings given the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board on 22 March 1966. You forwarded this to me for action with regard to the Director's request that you keep him :informed as to what this Agency was doing to maintain its security posture and prevent personnel secu- rity cases similar to the 3. I believe that you know that the Deputy Director for Support has been instrumental in arranging a series of Security demonstrations and briefings of the DCI, not only to inform him of our programs and capabilities, but also to reassure him that this Office is taking all possible steps to ensure that our personnel, physical and technical security standards are of the highest level. 4. On 5 April, we concluded this series with a half hour briefing on our Personnel Security Program in which we emphasized our counterintelligence program in the same detail that we have pre- sented earlier to you. I believe that this series of briefings which we have just concluded, have brought the DCI up to date and can be considered as fulfilling the requirement expressed to you that you keep him informed as to what the Agency is doing in this respect. I will, of course, together with the Deputy Director for Support, continue to keep you informed of any new developments pertinent to the Director's concern.
