MEMORANDUM FOR THE HEADS OF EXECUTIVE
DEPARTMENTS AND AGENCIES
His Excellency General Ne Win, Chairman of the Revolutionary
Council of the Union of Burma, and Madame Ne Win will arrive in
Washington on Thursday, September 8, 1966, for a State visit to the
United States.
General and Madame Ne Win will arrive at the White House at
11:30 a. 'n. on that day where there will be a brief ceremony. At 12:00
nc.)on General Ne Win and President Johnson will head a parade leaving
ti'e- White House by the Southeast Gate, proceeding east on Hamilton
Place to 15th Street, south on 1 5th Street to Constitution Avenue, east
on Constitution Avenue to 9th Street, north on 9th Street to Pennsylvania
Avenue where the motorcade will be joined by a military escort. The
entire procession then will move northwest on Pennsylvania Avenue to
14th Street, north on 14th Street to New York Avenue, southwest on New
York Avenue to Pennsylvania Avenue, west on Pennsylvania Avenue to
Blair House where the parade will terminate about 12:25 p.m.
It is desired that as many Government employees as possible
have the opportunity to extend their greetings to General Ne Win of
Burma. The heads of the Departments and Agencies shall excuse from
work those employees whose services can be spared without charge to
annual leave for such time as is required to greet General Ne Win,
Chairman of the Revolutionary Council of the Union of Burma, on
September 8. -
In excusing employees the time along the route of procession and
the location of employment should be taken into consideration.
