The Joint Chiefs of Staff have recently been
discussing two matters relating to Vietnam which
I know are of interest to you. The first is the
problem of improving the reporting of the military
situation and related matters. The second is the
program under consideration for increasing pres-
sures on North Vietnam.
We would appreciate very much the opportunity
of discussing both of these matters with you informally
at an early meeting of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Would
it be possible for you to join us on Friday, January 17th,
or Monday, January 20th, at an hour of your choosing
falling preferably between 2 p. m. and 4 p. m. ?
